Exactaform at Advanced Engineering: Jamie White on PCD and Carbide Tooling

Oct 09, 2024 Maria Simeonova

As we approach Advanced Engineering 2024, we sat down with Jamie White, Managing Director of Exactaform, to learn more about the latest technologies, trends, and innovations and how Exactaform continues to lead the way in quality, precision, and sustainability.

Driving Innovation in Precision Tooling with PCD and Carbide Cutting Tools

PCD and Carbide cutting tools are engineered to address some of the most demanding applications in the aerospace and automotive industries. Innovation is at the heart of Exactaform. As Jamie explains, "Innovation is part of what Exactaform does on a daily basis."

Advanced Engineering's visitors will get the chance to see some of Exactaform’s latest innovations. One of the highlights is our new PCD range, specifically designed for machining model board. Jamie adds, “We also have a really exciting innovation around countersinking with our fixed depth countersinks; and we can't forget our Exactaset face mill range.

Sustainability: A Core Focus

The growing demand for eco-manufacturing solutions drives Exactaform to develop tools that minimise waste, prolong tool life, and reduce energy consumption. Jamie emphasises not just the impact our cutting tools can have on a business' sustainability, but also the measures Exactaform takes, noting, “We’ve got 140 kW of solar panel, efficient LED lighting, and heat recapture. By continuously investing in new technology, we’re always at the forefront of the eco curve.”

Interview with Jamie White: Q&A

Why is Advanced Engineering a significant platform for Exactaform?

"Advanced Engineering is a great show for us because there are always new, innovative materials and challenges that people are facing. We love to discuss the difficult stuff, that’s really our niche. Our technical specialists usually come away with several major challenges to solve for customers after the event."

How does Exactaform ensure quality and precision in its tooling solutions?

"Everything we produce is made here in the UK, allowing us to control our own processes. We're able to adhere to very strict quality procedures, everything goes through our final inspection department. Quality is really an utmost focus for everybody across the whole organisation."

What trends in advanced engineering and tooling technology are you most excited about right now?

"Being in Britain, we're constantly surrounded by innovative companies who are pushing the boundaries of technology. We're the eighth biggest manufacturer globally now, which is really exciting. 3D printing is always something on the agenda but there’s still lots and lots of call for cutting tools well. Electric vehicles are also on the agenda, and generally the drive towards more sustainability and more environmentally friendly solutions."
